This unusual cafe is populated by a diverse flock of parrots, parakeets, sparrows and cockatoos for your bird-watching enjoyment. If you're especially adventurous and want to make friends with a bird or two, after you've finished your coffee or tea you can spend five minutes in the interactive zone at the back of the cafe.
There, a staff member will explain the shop's rules, apply disinfectant to your hands, and show you (in Japanese) how to handle and gently play with the resident birds without getting bitten. On the afternoon of a recent visit the shop's cockatoo was in a very squawky mood, but the baby parrots were much more calm and playful.
While you're at the cafe you can enjoy some excellent tarts and cakes (from Y800) and a robust Kona coffee (Y800), and inspect the bird-themed paraphernalia for sale in the shop area. Note that there's a one-hour time limit at the cafe, and a Y500 charge for your five-minute hands-on session with the birds.
